I'm surprised how moved I am watching Michael Jackson videos. So much of his later work I only know through videos, whether staged or onstage. When he wasn't making music, perhaps it wasn't so easy to be him, but it's probably best to celebrate what he left us.
Here's one of the more surprising videos I found, a performance of "Man in the Mirror" from the 1988 Grammy Awards, with help from a gospel choir. The showmanship is still there, and some dancing, but the emphasis is on singing, even to an a cappella part at the end.
